WHAT’S IT ABOUT
Thriller in which a former CIA marksman is coaxed back into service to assassinate a terrorist in London. Unfortunately, the ex-agent is framed for murder and so forced to go on the run. An unlikely alliance with a 12-year-old girl may be the only way to clear his name and gain revenge over his enemies.

MOVIESinMO REVIEW
Steven Segel, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and now Wesley Snipes. Another action star falls victim to the Direct-To-Video movie library. With the financial flop Blade: Trinity, Mr. Snipes was reduced to D.T.V. movies. The Contractor, released in 2007, was his sixth Direct-to-video title.  In this 98 minute rated R mess, Snipes plays a retired CIA hitman named James Dial brought out of retirement for one last hit. DAMN, that seems like a really familiar plot. Oh, yeah, it is, It’s the exact plot for almost every retired hitman movie. Anyway, he’s ordered to kill a notorious terrorist he failed to dispose of while in the service. He is then sent to London to take care of the terrorists that got away. Things don’t go so well, and James gets accused of killing a cop. This begins a huge manhunt, more accusations, and the friendship of a 12-year-old girl named Emily. She is just the beginning of a whole lot of unnecessary plotholes.

There’s a lot of talking trying to give every character depth, but ultimately, no one cares. Over an hour later and we finally get some real action. This is where they should have started. I’m a fan of Wesley Snipes, but The Contractor is a boring and emotionless waste of time.
