MoviesInMo REVIEW
He’s Back!! Michael Myers is here to frighten a new generation of adults, and he’s still as scary today as he was in 1978. This time around, Michael was captured after that first night and has been in an asylum ever since. In the meantime, Laurie Strode, (Jamie Lee Curtis) has been preparing for his inevitable return. Her daughter hates her, and her granddaughter doesn’t know what to think. Back at the asylum, Myers and a few other mentally challenged patients are being transferred to a maximum security facility when their bus crashes and the face of Halloween is free once more. Throughout the film, the mere thought of Michael being right around the next corner or in a closet was horrifying by itself but seeing him right in front of his victims was even worse. The best thing about this movie is the use of practical effects. Using real items instead of computer generated bodies gives this film a look of realism that most movies using CGI don’t have. The return of John Carpenter as executive producer and the fact that Bloomhouse acquired the rights (after Dimension Films lost the production rights) almost guaranteed the success of Halloween 2018. For the people that have seen the original 1978 version, and its sequels there are plenty of easter eggs to look for. Even the cast is a throwback to what made Halloween such a great horror film. If you love horror movies or you just want to know what a good one looks like, see this movie.
