Before I start, I must bring to the forefront, this new genre, “comic book.” I know there have been superhero/comic book movies as long as there have been comic books but most of those sucked. This is the first time in motion picture history, comic book movies have been this good for this long, and therefore, they have earned the right to have their own category. No longer should they be clumped together with drama, action, adventure, comedy or science-fiction movies. They are comic book films and should be listed as such.
Moving on, It’s finally here; the movie we Marvel fans have all been waiting for. So was it worth the wait? That depends on who you ask At its release, most moviegoers hated it. As time past, the talks began regarding the movie, the ending mostly. Infinity Wars takes everything we’ve seen up to this point and exploits it royally. So before you see this movie, I recommend seeing the other superhero films that helped lead up to this one. That’s eighteen movies for all keeping count. That’s also over 36 hours of catching up if you want to know and understand the whole story. And yes, that is a lot of time but it took ten years to get to this point so why would you wait until the last minute considering the impressive track record the Marvel cinematic universe has. Besides, most people today binge watch TV shows and movies.
Now for those of us that have seen the entire franchise, Infinity War is the beginning of the end, both figuratively and literally. It starts about two years after Black Panther, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Thor: Ragnarok, and Captain America: Civil War. Thanos and his lieutenants begin their attack and search for the infinity stones with Thor. The battle was swifi and merciless as were the other fights involving the acquisition of the remaining stones. The final battle was epic and far exceeded expectations. I can’t say too much about this title without spoiling it for those that have a regular routine of waiting for the home media release, so I will just say this, even if you don’t like these type of films, you still need to see it if you want to know what everyone else keeps referencing. Similar to “I am your father” from Star Wars or “Life is like a box of chocolate” from Forest Gump. Don’t get let in the dark, see Avengers: Infinity War.
