What’s It About
In an adaptation of Jules Verne that can be generously termed “loose,” Captain Nemo goes even deeper in the Asylum’s 30,000 Leagues Under The Sea (that’s 10,000 leagues further than before, for those of you counting). This film is unique for the Asylum, in that it isn’t a direct knock-off of a major studio film, but rather a re-telling of a novel in a way that’s never been done before: inventively poorly. 30,000 Leagues Under The Sea takes place in the present day with Lorenzo Llamas taking on the lead role of Lt. Aronnaux. The film, which also somehow features Kerry Washington, essentially follows the basic structure of the novel, albeit with dumb futuristic twists. And yes, as depicted in the cover art, there is, of course, some kind of giant spider-squid thing.
