The Terminator
This film’s title and artwork leave very little room for nuance in terms of what it might be aping. It’s the sort of wildly shameless rip-off that has made the Asylum what it is today: a B-movie powerhouse with absolutely no qualms about luring you in with wholesale imitations. Like a lot of Asylum features, however, the title it’s openly copying (in this case, 1984’s The Terminator) is not necessarily indicative of the work The Terminators is borrowing from.
While The Terminators does take place in a not-so-distant future where cyborgs have risen up and conquered mankind, some reviewers have said it’s a lot closer to the TV miniseries V. There are some Terminator-like elements though. The robots look sort of similar, and they’re called TR-4s, which is pretty close to Terminator 2’s T-1000. Also, there is a human uprising led by a charismatic (in theory) young rebel who is mankind’s only hope.
