WHAT’S IT ABOUT
In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans of raising pure-blood wizards to rule over all non-magical beings, Albus Dumbledore enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.

MoviesInMo Review
What happened? After a 2-year wait, this is what we get. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is just the second film in what will be a five-film series, but so far it’s not looking too good. Fantastic Beast 2 starts very promisingly, but something changed in the first twenty-five minutes. They ran out of passion. After a great start, it seems like all they cared about were the graphics. The story was half-assed, and the main characters relied solely on special effects. Additionally, whatever story they were trying to tell, got lost within the many other stories they were trying to tell. The one story regarding the council as they discuss Grindelwald should have been the only story along with Newt and his relentless search for magical creatures. Unfortunately, there are at least six different (and incomplete) stories all playing out at the same time. As I stated earlier, this is movie number two out of a five-film series, so there was absolutely no need to explore more than two storylines in this or any of the future films. J. K. Rowling is a great storyteller, but for some reason, David Yates (the director) decided her stories couldn’t stand on their own and put the focus on magical elements and special effects instead of the proven writing skills of Ms. Rowlings. As it is, Fantastic Beast 2 is a jumbled mess with no real direction.
