WHAT’S IT ABOUT
The El Royale is a run-down hotel that sits on the border between California and Nevada. It soon becomes a seedy battleground when seven strangers — a cleric, a soul singer, a traveling salesman, two sisters, the manager, and the mysterious Billy Lee — converge on a fateful night for one last shot at redemption before everything goes wrong.

MOVIESinMO REVIEW
Bad Times At The El Royale is nothing but a poor man’s Tarantino wannabe, and not even a good one. This movie is so unnecessarily slow as it takes forever to get to the point. The few jump scenes don’t justify the long wait, and once they happen, they’re done over and over and over again. At least four times over. Why?? Because this film is so devoid of a true story, it has to show the same actions from the perspectives of each character. It’s not a bad concept (Memento, Inception, The Usual Suspects) but when it’s done wrong, it sucks. Bad Times At The El Royale is very borderline in the sucks department. As this film begins, we see a bank robbery gone wrong and a double-cross. This is only seen so it can set up one of the many storylines that exist in this two and a half hour waste of time. On the plus side, the actors gave impressive performances. The other stories involve a singer, the authorities, hotel staff, a kidnapper and a cult leader. The only thing these stories have in common is having to meet up at the hotel. I can only assume the writer wanted to use a place in a remote area to add yet another storyline to an already overloaded movie. This movie could have easily been cut by an hour without losing any of the many stories being told, AND it would have been a lot more enjoyable.
